Candler Park, located about five minutes east of downtown Atlanta, is one of Atlanta's first suburbs and is included in the National Register of Historic Places. The neighborhood is home to many talented people, great shops, bars, and aeverything eclectic. The community focuses on walkability and livibility with many parks and community sponsered activities occuring regularly. The Candler Park green space is a 55-acre city park that includes a nine-hole golf course, swimming pool, football/soccer field, basketball court, tennis courts, and a playground. Candler Park's Neighborhood Organization (CPNO) puts on an annual festival in Candler Park known as Fall Fest; this event has an annual attendence of over 10,000 people and includes a great band line-up, artists' market, children's activities, 5K road race, tour of historic homes, and more.
Lake Claire is an intown Atlanta neighborhood near Candler Park, Kirkwood, and Druid Hills known for its diverse mix of home styles, its lovingly tended gardens and green spaces, and its community-oriented residents. The residents here have strived to create a very close-knit community since the neighborhood's conception. Lake Claire's approximately 1,200 homes are an eclectic mix from the Revival, Victorian, and Modern Periods: Craftsman bungalows, 1950s cottages, and Contemporary Folk styles of architecture, in addition to homes recently renovated or constructed within the new millennium.
The neighborhood association, Lake Claire Neighbors (LCN) plans neighborhood events such as the Lake Claire Home & Garden Tour in the fall and the annual Halloween kids parade, helps maintain Lake Claire Park and the Harold Avenue Greenspace, and handles other important aspects of the community. Within the neighborhood itself are many smaller vibrant communities including the Lake Claire Community Land Trust, an idyllic community-owned greenspace in the heart of Lake Claire that features gardens, a children's play area, a sweat lodge, and holds many events throughout the year.
